What is the price range of your room rates? Are there any additional costs that I should be aware of?
For a listing of our room rates, visit RATES AND RESERVATIONS. Each room here at Snowbird is different, unique in size and décor. In the Historic Main Lodge, built in 1940 some rooms are slightly smaller than today's standard hotel rooms. Our nightly room rates range from $195.00-$335.00 per night (based on double occupancy) and include all meals. In our larger rooms or rooms with more than one bed each additional person over two is $60.00. There is a 15% service charge in lieu of tipping, 7% North Carolina sales tax and a 3% local occupancy tax on all room rates. A two night minimum stay is required on weekends and a three night minimum stay is required on Holiday weekends and during the month of October.
What is your reservation policy?
Reservations may be made up to one year in advance to the month. Many of our guests often reserve the same room for next year. A room is held with either a credit card or a check deposit. If you prefer to mail a check it must be received within seven days of a verbal reservation. If we do not receive a room deposit within seven days, the reservation will be released and your room may be booked by another guest. At the time of your reservation a deposit equal to one night's stay will be due. Upon receipt of your deposit we will mail a letter of confirmation to you.
What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. Deposit refunds for individual bookings will be refunded only if cancellations are made twenty one (21) days or more in advance of your arrival date. Cancellations made for visits scheduled during the month of October must be received thirty (30) days or more in advance of your arrival. Deposits will not be transferred to future dates when a cancellation is made within the specified cancellation period. If a cancellation must be made inside the specified cancellation windows we regret that a deposit refund is not possible under any circumstances. Guests are responsible for all room charges if they arrive late or depart early. Please inquire regarding group bookings and cancellations. Vacation or travel insurance is strongly recommended.
What types of meals do you serve?
If you're curious about the meals we offer here at Snowbird check out FINE DINING for sample menus, photos and recipes. Breakfast is served buffet style. Lunch is a picnic for you to enjoy on your travels in the area and can be packed bag style, in a backpack or picnic basket. Dinner at the Lodge is a culinary and social event and includes soup, salad, appetizer, entrée and desert. Reservations for dinner begin at 6:00 and seatings are available at 6:00, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:00. Guests may be seated either individually or family style at our large round "chef's" table. Because of our remote location we ask that you notify us of any special needs, birthdays, anniversaries or dietary restrictions well in advance of your arrival.
What kind of clothes should I pack?
Bring casual clothes, comfortable shoes or hiking boots. Leave you dresses and coat and tie at home. In thinking about what you want to pack for your visit you might want to check out THE EXPERIENCE. Because our altitude here at the Lodge exceeds 3000 feet and you can go up to 6,000 close by, our weather is often a bit cooler than some guests expect, especially in the evenings after sunset. If you are cold natured, you may want to pack a sweater or light jacket just in case. Afternoon showers are frequent in the mountains so you might want to bring a raincoat. All rooms are equipped with hairdryers, makeup mirrors, coffee maker and all toiletries. Corner rooms, Wolfe cottage and Chestnut Lodge rooms are equipped with the aforementioned as well as refrigerators and CD players.
What about you smoking policy?
Snowbird Lodge is constructed entirely of 100-year-old Chestnut timber. Because the nearest fire department is about a 45 minute drive from the Lodge, we need to be very careful about fire hazards including in-room candles. For this reason, we are a non-smoking property and ask that you refrain from bringing candles for your room. Smoking is permitted outside on the porches.
Can I purchase alcohol on the property?
Yes, Snowbird Lodge is fully licensed by the North Carolina State ABC Commission. We offer a full selection of fine spirits and craft beers as well as an exceptional wine list.
Can people who are not over-night guests come up for dinner?
Outside guests who have dinner reservations are always welcome at Snowbird. Please call for reservations well in advance - we are often filled to capacity. Dinner prices are all-inclusive and cost $38 per person plus gratuity.
What are arrival and departure time?
Check-in is anytime after 3:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m. Rooms are not available before 3:00 p.m.
We are flying in for our visit, what is the nearest airport?
For persons flying in private aircraft the nearest airport is the Andrews/Murphy airport located in Andrews, NC. Please call ahead for rental car information or airport pickup. The nearest commercial airports are Asheville, NC or Knoxville, TN. Both are approximately two hours from the Lodge. Rental cars are available at these airports.
